Igor Strawinsky (1882-1971) ist eine der faszinierendsten Künstler-persönlichkeiten des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sein Leben, das ihn von Russland über Frankreich nach Amerika führte, seine Bekanntschaften und Freundschaften mit Künstlern aus den Bereichen des Tanzes, der Oper, des Films und vor allem der bildenden Kunst ist fotografisch gut dokumentiert. Darüber hinaus haben bildende Künstler Strawinsky immer wieder porträtiert und Kostüme, sowie Bühnenbilder für seine Ballettstücke entworfen.
Das Katalogbuch zeigt eine Art fotografischer Biografie, das durch die enthaltenen Werke bildender Künstler auf das enge Verhältnis Strawinskys zur künstlerischen Avantgarde seiner Zeit verweist.

Igor Strawinsky (1882-1971) is one of the most fascinating artist personalities of the 20th Century. An emphasis lies on the works for the Balletts Russes, which are documented both with private photographies of Strawinsky with the dancers and artists of the company, such as Natalja Gontscharowa or Sonia and Robert Delaunay, in addition original scores of Strawinsky can be found.
